You awake into chaos,
shower, rush breakfast and run.
Chasing down a crowded bus,
you gulp down a cold coffee
and follow the herd to work.
You gripe and diss the city,
but all the while, love your life.
Its rhythm, like a heartbeat,
forms the pulse of the city,
where though alone, you’re at home.
Through veiled anonymity,
shadows harbor peace of mind.
And modern amenities
make city strife all worthwhile.
One can dine on chef’s cuisine
or eat at a fast-food place.
Each rung up success’s ladder
brings your dreams one step closer.
Opportunity seldom
ventures beyond city streets,
and that’s why you choose to stay.
