Circle of Life

THE CIRCLE OF LIFE

A baby cries out, a new life is born.
Proud parents see him and know the future.
Oh, how much this child has yet to learn.
He grows, reaching for new horizons, seeing things so new.
And life goes on.

Years pass, as he becomes an adult.
So many memories since an infant.
Good times and bad, happiness and sorrow.
People come and go in the passage of his life.
And life goes on.

Now children of this adult are born, to carry on.
To replace those who have grown.
Starting their own lives, as one has before.
Marching in time to their own visions.
And life goes on.

Having become a senior citizen, he has evolved
From a tiny bundle of joy,
To a seasoned elder, seeing life and death
Of family and friends, knowing his time is near.
And life goes on.

Such is the circle of life.

Robert, Your poems are lovely and nostalgic. I find myself writing poems with nostalgia, too. Good luck to you! Ann Peck
