Christopher's Poem

I’ve tried to help you, and treat you fair;
But in your mind, you think I don’t care.

I know I haven’t done everything right;
But trust me, I continue to put up a fight.

Your happiness is all I ever hoped for;
I know you never meant to make my trust sore.

You do what you know how to survive;
Life for you has been about staying alive.

The hardships you’ve had to always endure;
You never knew what was in store.

You’ve done so well, and I know you’re tired;
Your bitter and angry and wish to retire.

But try once more, I’ll be by your side;
I promise I’ll never wash out with the tide.

We have a long journey, me and you;
I’m committed, I promise, I’m part of the crew.
