Christmas Tree Reminder

Christmas has been over for three days.
My husband ask
May we take the Christmas tree down yet?
There is no way.

It has been up over a year.
It is staying up.
I tell him no.
We use it as a night light.

It is a mere three feet tall,
But it reminds me of last Christmas
when I still had my mother.
It will stay up forever

A night light that reminds me
That our time is limited
That we need to live our favorite light
As we are all extinguished in the end
Becoming starlight

It reminded me of a song. Leave a light on for me.... Lovely Poem I'm sure your Mum would be smiling at the touching sentiment of both the tree and poem. Happy New Year Caren, Take care.... Shirley.

I love your poem so much Caren and what a wonderful idea ~ I too have a small tree which I will probably put out on my balcony, but whilst the evenings are still so dark it is staying inside to lighten my soul and remind me of my darling boys Frank and Neil both now passed... Love and hugs Ann xx A FAV for me x

There are things that we cannot forget. At times we need to reflect on loved ones. Thanks for sharing Caren
