Notes About The Poem

Christmas in California

Why not celebrate a snowless Christmas here,
Where winter sun feels warm and clear?
No frosty flakes upon the ground,
Just golden light all around.

Santa strolls in sandals here,
Sleigh bells swapped for beach-ball hands.
Santa trades his heavy fur
For shades and shorts — now that’s a stir!

Gifts pile high beneath citrus trees,
Snowmen made of sand and smiles.
The palms wear twinkling lights at night,
Warm breezes hum with soft delight.

Then clouds gather, skies turn gray,
Heavy rains drum festive beats,
Santa laughs in raincoat gay,
Dancing down the soaked-street streets.

Sun returns before too long—
Rainbow arcs above the cheer,
Christmas here feels warm and strong,
Sunshine, rain, and Santa near.
