Christmas Eve Snow
Sleigh bells jingle in the wind.
It is not the cold and biting kind.
More like a balmy winter breeze.
As nightfall descends the air stills
And all is hushed and damp.
Nature has huddled down to doze.
Silence now pervades the night.
The moon asleep behind thick clouds.
Darkness disseminates over the land.
An anticipation of precipitation grows.
Soon soft white flakes float lazily
Down through the dark, damp, air.
Amassing in a cool white blanket,
Over the previously bare brown ground.
As Christmas day dawns bright,
The landscape has transformed overnight.
Just as it was over two thousand years ago.
