Christ Sets My Spirit Free

Upon that hill up yonder long ago, Three men were hung for evils they had done. But one of them had traveled to and fro. And taught of Heaven’s gates, oh, holy one. He healed the sick and brought the word of God. But Sadducees, then, claimed he was a fraud. In innocence he hung upon that tree. That Holy One of Israel set men free. Pure love was in his heart, no selfishness. But evils of that day wrought their strong hand. They hung the Son of God in sins’ caress. Upon their quest for power fear did stand. That Son of God and man did bear great pain. Though all the days he lived in sins’ abstain. Great strength and love; his death he did foretell. He gave his life to save my soul from hell. Oh, precious Jesus, Holy One of God. In humbleness I ask with contrite heart, Please take my faith and guide me; I am flawed. I thank thee for the gift of each fresh start. Perfection marks the way to God above. No gratitude can equal thy great love. Imperfect as I am, I come to thee. Please cleanse my heart and set my spirit free.
