Choose Your Words
Please choose your words more carefully...
as they may soon come back to haunt you.
Those words spoken out of pain or hurt...
their impact may be great.
They may fill someone with anger...
or back them down in self defeat...
living their life with walls built up...
against everyone they meet.
We should instead greet each day with words of love...
to everyone we meet.
For you can now see each word you speak...
can change a life one way or the other.
It may hang for years like a parasite...
sucking the life right out.
These same words spoken by ones you love...
can kill their most ambitious dream.
Words like "You never will" or " Your never going to be"...
or " I hate you" or " Your stupid"...
the list goes on and on.
A few kind words spoken from the heart
may make a difference you can see.
I realize no one is perfect...
and we all will make mistakes...
just try it once...you'd be surprised
how little time it takes.
Words spoken out of kindness...
like " I love you " or " I believe you can" may be hard
for some to grasp or really understand...
for we grew up in the shadow...
no kind words ever heard.
The thought of us being successful by others...
seemed really quite absurd.
The poison dart has hit it's mark...
the damage can now be seen...
but it's not too late to push restart...
admitting you were wrong...
it may finally turn their life into a brand new song.
Each kind word may plant a seed...
the effects you may never know...
but I believe with all my heart...
that you will reap what you have sown.
