Choices

Don't ask me to rethink this now,
I'm standing at the edge; somehow.
Tomorrow won't dawn, I won't be here,
Thankful; for a love like yours, is so rare...

A girl like you, a shining light,
I searched life for you, day and night.
Impossible to find; again,
My story ends, but then...

You breathe me in, a final breath,
Escaping the shadow of coming death
I'm not yours to keep, the choice is made,
No longer lost, no longer afraid...

Hold on to the promises that I gave,
Words have power, beyond the grave
Talk is cheap, but my feelings run deep,
Remember me tonight, while you're a sleep...

I think, not long ago, I found you on one of my poem pages and developed said intention. It's so hard to keep up with all Soup want/need to do's, best intentions and all that. Reading your poem, I was reminded why I read so many the first time I discovered you. Your poetry hooks me, and this one has yet to let go.
