Choices
Our life is defined by choices,
Improved by the ones avoided
Each day making me,
I want to believe
But what if I had chosen differently,
I wonder what would have become of me
How much of me would be the same,
Or would I be engaged in a totally different game
Would I still doubt the choices I made,
Or be happy that I strayed
Would I even notice the difference,
Because of my life and how I lived it
At what age do we begin to regret,
Is it after our life is set
Fearful that we left something out,
Despite all the toys and the clout
Is it rooted in how we define happiness,
Do we feel there is not enough in us
Are we comparing ourselves to a standard,
To others we think matter
Could it be we stopped setting goals,
Allowing self doubt to gain a hold
If I made that other choice then,
Would I be strong enough to defend
My satisfaction of this time and place,
Or is it time to decide the next leg of my race
