Chilled

Leaves giving gentle kisses to the ground, Autumnal winds waking the sleeping trees, A lover so gentle and kind, waiting. But then everything is stripped to the bone. White powder blankets, stripping all warmth Look up, the naked trees shatter the skies. Fall weakens us so winter can come through. Heavy handed, red faced, freezing, shrinking. Breathing out ghosts and burning them away.
