CHILDREN’S CORNER

a time when fear
can be such fun –
these children
gathered round a
jack in the box

a time when kids
SCREAM!
at nothing
such wild      fearful
anticipation

a time to search
the depth –
how is jack dressed?
Is he evil eyed?
or harlequin?

but a split second
and all magic lost
when – POP!
up comes
JACK IN THE BOX!
