Children Paying the Price of Addiction

Sad or happy
Mean or nice
Children always pay the price
When parents argue, scream and fight
Because addiction grabs them tight
Leaving little hearts in pieces
When alcohol and drugs releases
Harmful words that will not heal
And bruises that do not feel
Like a parents love should be
Instead of peace and harmony
This home life is full of rain
And dark clouds creating pain
And abuse that will become
The reason for a small victim
Being laid into the ground
Wings of angels all around
To take her to a safer place
Where there never is a trace
Of the short and painful years
Now she will cry happy tears
Being loved by others who
Had parents who abused them too

So true, Robin. I think what is sadder than the victims in the ground is the fact that so many of them grow up to perpetuate the misery of abuse. It takes a strong soul to pull through unscathed. I want to imagine the victims as angels in heaven finally enjoying the love they missed out on here on earth.

This is so true. Children always end up paying for their parents sins. Little children should be loved and protected, but some don't have that luck. Thanks for sharing..... Lucilla
