Children of the Night

Oh, you children of the night Please don't try to hide. I know you're there I can feel your stare And I know you see me too. I've seen you lurking in the shadows On many a moonlit night. I've seen that look in your cold, dark eyes That look of ice and fire. To the unknowing passer by You seem to be only a shadow But I know you for what you are Nothing but evil and power. So all you children of the night Hide in the shadows if you must But you're really nothing more than dust. And you can never hide from me. Josette Davis Key 2018

Or course, the light in us when realized, is greater power than all shadows combined. Their power is fear, the illusion they nurture of our helplessness. Great write!

Enjoyed this poem. I can see you out in the woods surrounded by them, icy cold yet not afraid. Glad to see you are submitting again.
