Children of the Forest
one tear is not enough
to express how life is tough
I have gone with the flow
but am sad taking the blow.
Lying on pine cones I will fall sleep
Desperate and tired, thus I weep
No one to share my book of fears
If only I had someone’s pair of ears.
Falling leaves are leaving me in doubt
that I will find joy in my solemn route
nature has seasons ,all comes to an end
life has given me time which I cannot suspend.
I am the mother of nature’s children who roam
to seek shelter and food and find a home,
I am not Mother Nature for she has her claim
Being guardian of the forest I bear no shame.
At their side thru the nights of drizzling rain
I foster care to the young so they shall gain
Learning to survive in this populated environment
the little ones will never see what is called retirement.
no day at the beach or walk in the park
they must settle down before it gets dark
life for them seems simple but it’s not realized
without nurturance they become demoralized
I ask of you to help support and give
so my children will have more time to live
Someday I will die and be covered by those falling leaves
please spare the young from harm’s way and predacious thieves.
