Childhood Woes

I never felt like I was drowning until I met you. Your comforting sorrow. You came to me when I was in seventh grade, “Only for a while.” But you’re still here. You have caused rage in my heart like no other. Balled my hands into fists when I just wanted them to be held. You are the shining nothingness I was warned about. You capture people in your warm darkness and pull them off of a cliff, never to be heard again. You have convinced even the most faithful people that there is no God. You bounce from person to person sucking the life out of them. I am so tired of this endless chase. Climbing up a tower just for you to lead me to my doom.
