Childhood Memory

Written: January 23, 2026, for contest Sponsored by: Nette Onclaud *************** Youth celebrated small dreams… Glass marbles, stolen guava, And dawn cartoons on schooldays; How my courage thinned so quick, On long evenings spent hiding Those loud, know-it-all cousins… Then became their preferred myth.

Why do cousins inevitably appear often in our youth, and In what we write about them as we remember memories made with them from yester years. Hugs my FRIEND Lasaad, Jennifer.

Dear friend, even in a simple verse on childhood, I can see the stamp of a great poet. I can so well relate to your childhood experience. I love the expression... ''know- it - all cousins"... How accurate is the description. Great entry for the contest. I don't know if the result is out.

your poems consitently containing a deeper meaning, as did this one. Enjoyed the imagery and feelings evoked in the 2d and 3d lines

Childhood memories always pop up whilst day dreaming sometimes. I was the only girl who loved playing marbles and used to beat the boys but it certainly wasn't the thing to do in those years, my teacher said I should act more like a young lady so my dad started playing with me Nowadays women become building engineers and nothing is thought of it. Cousins can be a bind but I had a fav phillip. I liked your ending,, great poem Lasaad. Hugs Jennifer
