Childhood Memories
I dream of
my childhood
and the love !
Mom has made a picnic
and unfurls a blanket with a flick
in a green forest thick and green
beside a rippling stream scene
where birds twitter and tweet
and we pick raspberries _
as many as two little girls each carries
eating- O, they are sweet !
And here I am with my dad strolling
on an adventure expedition
pretending we are on a mission
down forest trails rocky and rolling
and another memory flashes
mom and dad are above in Heaven
and my sister left at seven
all that now remains are their ashes
and here I am playing on the swings
and then- on a fair merry-go-round
around and around ...
spinning, spinning 'till I have wings !
