Cherry Blitz
The beam and delicious chomp of cherry.
The contemplation of a banana split dream.
My lovely, so pretty, adorning a manhattan.
The fruit does fatten the red of one’s cheeks.
Oh! Oh! …and those full maraschino jars.
Oh my stars - they are bright as childhood.
I can juggle those little gems, my mouth full
as I pop them in, without those twirly stems.
The juice, fresh pulse, as the pitter spits.
Surfeit the bowl and let the dessert blitz begin.
So round and delectable covered in chocolate
with a creamy center - a Christmas perfectible.
The blushing pride of the sundry, sundae-fruits.
Smiles at the peak of whipped cream, satisfied.
