Cheers

I finally understand dry mouth Now that I’m running a race Like a dog with its tongue hanging out I’m panting to keep the pace I feel like a Black-eyed Susan, Wilting and bowed in a drought I think I’m suffering from delusions - I just saw Elvis in a cloud! It doesn’t sound too strange, I know But I swear he was cheering for me Rocking his pelvis to and fro, Screaming to take the lead I run into hands pushing H2O And chug the water like shots The icy cold refreshment flows Into me, clearing eye spots I throw down the empty water cups And now see Elvis crystal clear Only it’s not Elvis; it’s me mum, Drunk and flashing her rear! I ignore me mum and the jeers As I speed through the finish line Then join the others with a “cheers” An H20 high five! 9/27/11 Received 10th place in "Flowing Water" contest

oh, and was this something you actually did recently?? I remember back in '83 when I was still a young mom. I ran in a ten kilo race. I only practiced for it a few weeks before the run and I came in about in the middle of all the runners who participated in that race during Provo's big parade and Independence day celebration.

I agree with John smith down here. And how do you get Elvis from seeing your mum's rear? hahaha. maybe from his bad days when he got all swollen and fat? heehee. This poem was great fun and some of the lines made me chuckle! Was it for any contest, sweetie?

Your mum's rear and Elvis! What a great image. It's remarkable you finished the race. Great poem.
