Checkmate

It's getting awfully late
I have a lot on my plate
   I'm in a blase state
I long for a clean slate
I've done things I hate
Were my choices fate?
It was a horrible date.
I took the cunning bait
I walked in evils gate
I did it, and I can't debate
Nor even commiserate 
Darkness said checkmate
