I’d rather being chasing rainbows than being hurt by you
And try to lose myself in fantasy than feeling sad and blue
Years have passed and the reality is still like a blister sore
It never truly heals when you seem to want to rub it more
I’d rather be chasing rainbows than being pushed aside
Years of emotional neglect is not something that subsides
You really have no idea and are oblivious to my pain
I try and ignore your ignorance, only to hope again
I’d rather be chasing rainbows than pretending I don’t care
Forgiveness is in my heart, but resentment is still there
My acceptance is reality, that life is not always kind
I’d rather be chasing rainbows and have some peace of mind
