Chasing Elusive Dreams

Life is just one big race
But it's you I've got to chace
All over literal and digital space
Over and over I prove I have a place
But you don't think so so you throw it in my face
And tell me others do you better
This will be my final letter
Because I finally know better
And I'll lose this fetter
But even as I say that I know it's not true
You looked back but always knew
That even if my cheeks turned blue
I'l always be here in the queue
I don't understand why you look after me
When it's obvious I'd be better off free
It's not like you love me and my eyes speak a silent plea
I'm on my knees with one final plea
Poetry if you love me give me the verse
Because it can't get much worse
I don't need a million dollar purse
I just need to break this curse
Neither of us will ever be the same
But I'm weary of losing at this game
And I'll never find fame
It's really quite a shame
Over and over I prove I have a place
All over literal and digital space
But it's you I've got to chase
Poetry is one big race

I have a feeling you are not losing your fetter at all, and poetry is kind of an individual race that I believe you are winning.
