Charcoal Skies

The sky turns from blue to grey This is the end of the light for today Clouds swirl around like ghosts in the night Avoid dark corners or you’ll get a fright Shadows now form in the eerie sky The moon comes out, the sun says goodbye Creatures of the night come out to play The birds go to roost until the next day Twisting and turning the branches sway There is a strong breeze coming our way In the light of the moon the night owl flies This is the night of the Charcoal skies

I really enjoyed this write--your title alone evoked such powerful imagery, and your poem supports it really well, almost like a painting...

Awesome use of imagery, Pamela. There's a pretty full moon out now and I'll be watching for the night owl! Great rhyme and rhythm to this descriptive write! Love, Carolyn
