Change of Season

It's the changing of the season
You should have told me.

I've worn out all my welcomes.
So I don't love you anymore.

I won't be knocking on your door.
Yes, you say you won't forget me.

I see it's the rainbow moon out tonight.
Though the summer days drifted off-site.

You might forget me towards morning light.
For I shall have already forgotten you.

I've watched you many times come and go.
Through the shadows of the crystal moon.

I trace the memory of your face in my dreams.
I stare at the picture of you on the nightstand.

Feel the coldness of you come over me.
As the mystical lover's moon shines outside my window.

we seem to spend some time together, alas one of two must leave, we grow apart ...seperate, surrender, another's time to grieve, the mood is sometimes blue, when looking back remember, good times we received that warm december..... too. Don re Debbie Duncan "Change of Season"

They said there was going to be a lunar eclipse during the last full moon. Somehow, I did not see it. Your nice write reminded me of that night not too long ago.

I loved this poem, Debbie! I like the simplicity of it, mixed with deep emotions. I felt like I was reading a poem of my own! There is such beauty in sadness, sometimes. We may be alone in this world, but the moon is always there for us! Fantastic poetry! Adding it to my favs!...Thank you so much for the great comments!

Debbie, your poetry is fun on several levels. A lot of poets have written about the passages of life, but you do it with such passion. You have a lot of feeling and make me feel that there is hope for the human race before we reach the finish line. For that, I thank you kindly.
