Change of Hands
Broken fables at story time, told around the campfire.
With small and large gauge barbwire
Too contain; limit; hinder.
The freedom of the next generation;
The young constitute a plan on how to succeed
While finding a way to proceed.
With perplexing thought on the future;
Realizing they are not being nurtured,
By the generation before.
It is a compelling jaunt; from young to old,
If one decides it to be;
So if a person can handle the smoldering embers.
of the old holding the powers to be,
And the knowledge of the plans.
While finding that one thing is clear.
That this indispensable ride from new to old,
Is something we all do; so forge ahead,
And hope to be agile at the end.
