Change

I've heard it said
that you can't change
who you are
a leopard can't
change it's spots

but to me that feels wrong
we are constantly changing
once scared to talk I was shy
yet now I'll talk
to strangers on the bus

once without training
I found it hard
to find a job
but now with training
I never stop

during the second world war
normal men
taken off the streets
became soldiers
ready to take a life

with terrorism
they take little children
and teach them
how to kill
life is full of change

sometimes the words
of a passing stranger
can change
the direction
of your future

sometimes support
gives you strength
to become more
than you where before
life is full of change

every day you
have a chance
of changing your life
you can walk away
from violence

you can learn
to over come your anger
you can learn to trust
you can learn to grow
you can learn to change
