Chameleon How To Live In Terror
Chameleon
You brought me into this world
And showed me the way
To walk in Terror
And live with it every day
You pointed to the Holy
And said that it would save
But when I cried out in the dark
It didn’t go away
Do you like how you have molded me
Do you know what I have become
A chameleon that can change
Change into another one
You blame and call me strange
And tell many I am deranged
You’ve done this so no one will know
What I must do to endure so much pain
And for your own protection you lie and draw all near near
Leaving me none to believe me
Or lend a soothing ear
With your words and hands you mold me
And make it crystal clear
And to this day from so long ago
The condemning sounds echo in my ear
But I have learned to hide it
And bury it down inside
And when it comes to the surface
And leaks all around
I send the chameleon up to see and look for the safe ground
A chameleon moves among you
So that you will be able to see
The scales and claws I developed
By the words and hands that nurtured me.
