Chain-Smoking

Untold tales
of untaken chances

Of what could
or should have been

Linger, float,
drift slow in lazy air

Like deathly
ashen, oval smoke rings

Leaving the arid
mouth and parched lips

Of this drunken,
drowsy chain-smoker.
