Chained Dog Song

Jack Russell sings sharp—
two barks for each passing bike
he would love to chase.
Droning wheels tease and roll on
from chained dog’s staccato song.

A traditional tanka with a modern theme. Both droning wheels and staccato combine to produce a rap song. ~ Congrats on your podium finish, Rita! // paul

They make a good symphony, Rita. I could identify with this since our daughter and family have a Jack Russell...barks at everything! Congratulations on your fine placement in the contest. Nicely done. Hugs, Sandra

this one stuck in my mind from the first reading; i thought it was quirky, unusual, well written, with that "staccato song" a strong, alliterative closure - congrats on your win in my contest
