Certainty

“The first gulp from the glass of natural sciences will turn you into an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you.” — Werner Heisenberg heisenberg did not express uncertainty when he posited God at first gulp, science banished thought of childhood gods of should and ought but progress through the draught is fraught as glass bottom comes into view you expected mere residue instead, ’tis where God waits for you

This is absolutely brilliant, methinks. Straight to my faves, Jeff. Those last two lines really took me by surprise, esp. after the first two (memorable) lines. Huzzah! ~ Gershon

Thanks, Gershon. This was a nice exercise with his quote.

My simple response is "I don't know." I believe God is in my heart, mind, and soul. Beyond that, I try to limit my speculation, for when I speculate I vacillate. And, when I vacillate I begin an inner debate...and so on and on. Someday I'll know the answers to it all, or I will merely fade into nothingness. Either way I'll be most happy to have lived this life. I choose to have faith that I will fit into the master plan one way or another. I am not arrogant enough to suggest that I have the truth or that I even have many answers, at all.

Heisenberg was a scientist heavy into quantum physics. Romans says God is clearly perceived in nature, in his creation. I think Heisenberg is just saying that although many are driven from faith by their understanding of science, the more he has learned, the more he sees God there. That doesn’t seem like arrogance, just a creature who is in awe of his creator.

You are certainly correct Jeff. Mr Heisenberg had it right and your Poetry conveys that also. Thanks for sharing...

The more I read about the inner workings of an individual cell, the more convinced I am of a Creator. And the creation of life by random event out of chemical soup just seems way harder to believe when you look at the probabilities involved
