Notes About The Poem

Cemetery of Corpse Roses

"Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodnight till it be morrow. " ~ Shakespeare
As fragments of the stars abandoned the sage of night, my kohl heart bleeds beside your trembling tombstone, while soul aches to seize the fading scents within the iris of auroras, leaving dreams and I, lost like the speed of shooting sparks, twirling above ghosts in the cemetery of wild corpse roses, whistling moonless requiems to ravens blind to the truth etched in lithium...

Hauntingly beautiful... and the hourglass shape of your poem is very, very fitting ... Loved the dark atmosphere you've created here... So well done, Ink Empress :)

A true elegy on the 'wild corpse roses' strewn in any cemetery. Here we cannot smell the fragrance of roses or behold its beauty, but experience just the stark sorrow of absence and loneliness. Here there are no songs of melody, but requiems of parting heard by no cheering audience, but by ravens. "wild corpse roses, whistling moonless requiems to ravens blind to the truth etched in lithium..." Powerful and emotive poetry. Congratulations on your first place win, dear sweet friend.

Dear Inky, your poem is breathtakingly dark and lyrical—a poetic dirge painted in celestial hues. The imagery is rich with sorrow and beauty, especially 'kohl heart bleeds' and 'cemetery of wild corpse roses.' There's a delicate, almost fractured rhythm that mirrors the theme of loss and longing. The final line is chilling in the best way—'ravens blind to the truth etched in lithium' lingers long after reading. A fave for me...Hugs

Breath-taking. Raw if sad imagery yet vivid Sorrow, and haunting beauty creates an atmosphere that lingers—like an echo of a forgotten dream.

Your nonet spirals in a way seeming to resemble a ghost. I like the somber words and metaphors that make me shiver on a hot day.

Dearest Empress, Wow, a scintillating lament. As I was reading I felt like a shard adrift in nocturnal melancholy. I sensed the pang of farewell, the untamed blossoms and shadowed elegies, the manner in which remembrance and sorrow entwine. Empress, your voice is so ethereal, mellifluous, and intrepid, embodying the exquisite pain of loss and though reveries wane, affection endures within the iris of auroras. Grateful for the passage through your twilight sanctuary. I guess I am a little more morbid but I call this a FAV. Spring Blessings, My Dear Empress, Daniel
