Cellphone the Extra Appendage

Cellphones attached to hands, Just an extra appendage, no big deal. Put down rarely, Picked up at first peep. Instant news. Instant text. Instant everything. Instant anger. Instant nasty reply. Cellphones, more interesting than people. Everyone sitting around, looking at their appendages. I-phones, their new best friends. Eliminates lonely feelings And spontaneous conversations with strangers.

Caren, You already know I am the same page with you on this one. I miss talking to strangers so much. Whether in an MD office or at a store. And I don't like going out to eat any longer...it breaks my heart to watch the isolation. Well done, Caren And congratulations on becoming a Lifetime Member.

Oh dear such a sad reflection of what is to come in the not to distant future! No smiles as you pass by or taking the time to stop and chat. They usually walk straight into you! Kindest thoughts Ann xx

Ann, when parents walk into the school with a cellphone, pretending to be talking, pointing to it, and walk back out again, refusing to talk to the teacher I have to roll my eyes.

Yes, I do believe that could be a poem, Mahtab.

Timely write... Our children and children's children will probably have chips embedded within them. Will their thumbs disappear then, as they won't have to text anymore? Stay tuned. (We humans may wind up in the ex-primate house, what with no thumbs anymore. LOL). Thanks for the stimulating poem. ~ gw

We're both right, I think: You're right in the short run, while I'm (perhaps) right in the long run, once people are 50% chip/AI and 50% human... :) gw

I thought the opposite, Gershon. I thought we might have to develop an extra thumb on each hand. Hmmmmm

Yes! Nobody in the news mentions the dangers of cell phones on our anatomy. We pretend they are as innocent as a play phone. They are anything but that. Cell phone next to your ear? Deadly. Panagiota

It really is. I have turned down invitations to dine with someone after being with them for an hour and they ignored me the entire time to speak or play on their pleasure device.
