Celebration of Her Life, Letting Go of Her Death

I’ve written of my misery and all of the sorrow felt, I’ve expressed all my torment and how wrongly I’ve dealt- Today I am choosing to write a celebration of your life, speak verses of your beauty, not of your anguished strife. You were the angel I always wanted to grow up to be, you were always there helping to raise little me- Growing up I always longed for your sisterly affection, for little did I know we’d grow to have a strong connection. You became this woman of strength and courage combined, someone who I wanted to know, so giving and kind- If I had known you’d die at such a youthful age, maybe I’d try even harder to free you from your cage. Forgiveness you bestowed on those who wronged you, probably too much atonement for what hell you’d been through- I wish I saw you more than a few times a week, because being with you is something I always did seek. Your essence shined like the sunbeams in mid-July, and when you wept innocent tears you did cry- You gave with a compassion no other I know could give, if only you could give your strength to wanting to live. Faith in God you held in the depths of your heart, you knew deep inside with Him you’d never part- Your smile brightened up the eventide’s sunset, wearing a ball cap on your head every day I shan’t forget. Your life a struggle yet you prevailed with dignity, lived a simple life with an outpour of purity- Your hands were tired from all the woodworking you did, yet your body full of weakness from all the times you hid. I know now I must let go of your death with gracious ease, for it will bring a brighter tomorrow where all pain shall cease- Never will I ever meet another woman as beautiful as thee, and never will you meet someone who loved you more than me. A deep and emotive poem about letting go of pain, but sometimes it is difficult.. Her memories will live with you forever and she would want you to be happy, not blame yourself...

Laura, this is so beautiful. My elder sister lives in Australia. I love and miss her so much. You have captured here the depth of sibling love, a love unlike any other.
