Celebration

I burst forth
From the womb of earth
A thin trickle
Rain’s foster child
With every shower
I grew in size
I sped through rocks
And gnarled roots wide
I smoothened stones
I caressed grass
I paved my way in gushes and splash
I frothed and foamed
As I jumped and danced
I swirled and whirled
Around reeds and sand
I know not
How long I will be
So every moment
I celebrate me.
