Celebrating November and December
November's a lovely month when leaves turn crimson and gold,
but I was nearly smothered, covered by three feet of leaf mold.
Being so short, my cohorts raked a pile of them over my head,
then ran away laughing, while I lie sneezing and left for dead!
Some shake their heads at me and say, "Your accident prone."
But was it my fault when I choked on a roasted turkey bone?
It could've happened to any one of them, to say the least,
when we sat on Thanksgiving Day to share in our family feast.
I really love the holidays celebrated in November and December,
except for last year when I caught on fire by a burning ember.
I'm careless, they say, but swear someone blew it straight at me!
Who would try to keep me from decorating my Christmas tree?
It was December 24th, when I took a spill and broke my nose.
I spent two days in the hospital. A comatose Christmas blows!
You see, while skiing icy slopes, I took a tumble and hit a tree.
When I got home, I saw that Santa had left no presents for me!
The last two months of the year are always my favorite ones,
but having too much fruitcake and eggnog gives me the runs.
Next year I'll leave Santa a note saying, "I'll make you a deal.
Leave me gifts this year or I'll tell all the kids you're not real!"
