Cause and Effect

Your calm betrayal
forms rivers of crimson tears
that stream down my cheeks.

Your rabid fury
cleaves trails of searing anguish
that blaze through my heart.

It started with me
creating a false idol
in your likeliness.

Perpetuated
by your homily preaching
of a twisted grace.

I shouldn’t have knelt
to worship at your alter
of fallible love.

How many have fallen to this? You pen truth with eloquence and accuracy!

Unfortunately, I have to confess that I have fallen to this on more than one occasion. Thanks so much for the compliment, Lyric Man. I appreciate you taking the time to read and reply.
