Caught In Time

Caught inside the silence
of the ringing of the bells
In that silent hush
that punctuates the sound.
Searching for an anchor
in a place I once knew well.
But I just ended up
on unfamiliar ground.

I was reaching back to see
If I could find you.
Maybe say some things
I should have said before
But then I thought what if
You said let me remind you
What we had was good
But I need a little more.

There no sense in dwelling on
what could have been.
The people in the pictures
Have both moved on
But when I close my eyes
To try to block the image
You show up In the words
Of our favorite song.

All my friends suggest that
I should be moving on.
And just be thankful for
the time however brief
But when we took our vows
We spoke about forever.
And forever is pretty long
When you're not at peace.

Thank you. Time keeps moving on but some memories just seem to hang around.
