Caught In the Merry
Lives were blooming in the land.
Infants were growing spiritedly.
All with merry hearts enjoyed the days.
Then it was heard from a distance near,
Eastern soldiers are marching to us.
The rattling; the roaming; the rumbling.
Deafening! It deafened the ears.
“Lock the city gates, arm the fortress soldiers
Shoot canon out toward the eastern quickly.”
Authority ordered ceaselessly.
“Whoosh! Crash! City gates in ruins!”
Announced a watching soldier.
“Overrun! Override! Pull down! Set fire!
Fire everywhere!”
Ordered the invaders commander.
A force thus failed to match another.
Before this deadly guests departed,
Piles of corpses had grown on every street;
Treasure houses had been rendered empty.
The raised dust became settled.
The retreated king was out of hiding
And became derided before the lucky few.
He saw the damages and cried aloud -
“Lord! What a lesson I deduce from this!
If I live to build my kingdom again,
I’ll always be ready to be in defence.”
If you build your kingdom with wars,
Always be ready for war.
Need you tell the real warlords?
