Catharsis Dreamt a Wake
Imagine you are looking down on the bed,
from the ceiling perhaps, high up
by the shadowed side of the planet
They lay there quietly...still,
on their backs...maybe hands folded, fingers woven
under the covers, cotton or quilted, no matter,
on either bed side, not touching each other
Now imagine you are the one...nearest the door
sleeping next to her...or him.
You've lain there for years,
listening...sleeping, dreaming...listening
Now imagine you are the other,
dead asleep, oblivious to the planet
dreaming, next to the other
in the dream, eyes closed, but awake
You sense each other as if you
are both the same person, breathing
occupying the same quantum space
yet you can see the other as if part
of some out-of-body experience
You, dreaming, reach to touch
...other...or yourself, you are not sure
who they are, or, for that matter you,
slumbering and stumbling to understand,
rolling it over in your mind and bed
still in shadow, it is cool...and comforting,
vanishing point converges to bifurcate again,
in the wake, the dreaming returns
becoming the reality now
