Notes About The Poem

Castles In the Sky

The sandman will take pause and say a prayer
Then reach in to his special bag of sand
And with a sweeping motion of his hand
Bright glitter colored stardust fills the air

It falls to bring a dream beyond compare
Where castles in the sky are gold and grand
A momentary glimpse of "Beulah Land"
As we envision life beyond death's stare

And with that thought we'll take a rattled breath
The last tear of this life will find release
We'll see our shooting star, a passing flash
Exhale our soul and welcome life in death
Then build our castles on white clouds of peace
The sandman will sweep up our sparkling ash

Another beautiful Sonnet, Daniel. You wove the imagery of death so majestically as the soul is lifted to life after death to the white clouds of peace. A fav + 7, for me! Sandra

Hello Daniel, This is a magnificent Italian Sonnet for sure. Your combination of the "castle in the sky" metaphor and certain imagery and symbolism make this particular write all-the-more powerful. Very Inspirational for sure!! A SEVEN/FAV!! Cheers and Best, Gary

A nurse told me a story once, of an elderly lady being resusciated after a heart attack. She said to this nurse, "Why did you take me back? It was such a wonderful place." She obviously had seen her sandman's castle. Just beautiful Daniel.
