Casting About
Would-be actors read for roles
And give it all they’ve got,
Hoping that their name will fill
A vacant casting slot.
They gesture, pace, project and still,
Some don’t get any part.
Rejection hurts; it’s very hard
To not take it to heart.
Though confidence is needed
Just as well as some ambition,
Determination is the key
To face the next audition.
