Notes About The Poem

My Suzette Prime is in response to the second quatrain of Suzette Richard's "Voir Dire on Love"

"While we’re in the vertiginous first throws of being in love,

it’s advisable to bide one’s time; and not seem overeager.

If only there was a reliable test whereby one could

measure the compatibility of one’s love interest."

Indeed, lovers must not rush into
long-term relationships.
Such decisions are to society’s detriment.
As for the assertion 
that no test exists 
to measure compatibility,
I must protest.

I propose the use of personality tests and
astrology charts to show like-mindedness.

Choose head over heart for long-term love relationships.

Many assert that opposites attract. Yet between lovers, there should also be some compatibility.

Hi, Andrea. It was a well thought out response to the chosen quatrain. It is just a pity that it did not adhere to the design principles of Suzette Prime. It is almost a metaphor for playing by the rules in courtships... Su, x

Thanks for trying, Andrea. The trick in Suzette Prime is the prime number count per line (it is listed at the form description here at PS). No different to counting syllables per line for forms such as Limericks. Better luck next time :)

It's ok. i knew it wasn't that great. Honestly, I still don't get the rules. I was able to understand what you wanted but at a certain point, I could not quite comprehend all that you really wanted from us. I guess your form is just too difficult for me sometimes.

My horoscope chart explains a LOT about myself. Also I know of certain tests that people should look into even if blinded by love. Passion ends but personality compatibility can keep relationships from ending in disaster.

Good idea Andrea - iIn the old days, didn't they have dating services with extensive questionnaires to gauge compatibility. I bet if they did, they were all wrong! I don't think love is something that conforms to any rational analysis - lol.

Check out this book called The Color Code. Best personality test EVER, and it even gives compatibility of the four types and various subtypes (nothing to do with color, just a way to refer to the types)

yes, I don't know why they stopped that practice. However, I would mean such a test to be used AFTER two people fell in love, just to be sure it would work. I really believe in astrology, and from experience, I know how things work out between the different kinds of signs!
