Carol For a Soldier

May crystal chimes of Christmas,
Sing for you my son,
So far from home this day.
You stand your post,
And hold your ground,
In the endless fray.
Cold or hot and always tired,
You steel yourself with hope,
To live just one more day.
And dream of home,
Inside your warrior heart.
Still,
You stand your post,
And hold your ground.
Freedom's time will come my son.
Meanwhile may God bless you,
And stand your post beside you,
On this Christmas Day.

...a combat veteran

James, This poem hits my heart. It is so sad to think of our men and women away from their homes on Christmas. During the Vietnam conflicts, I know that there was at least one Christmas where a cease fire was in place on Christmas Day. I can't see that happening in this war. There's too much religious conflict and disregard for life involved. God bless them. And shall we all pray as special prayer for them. Lovingly, Dane Ann

God Bless those who serve and protect us. Nicely written in their behalf. ~ Carrie
