Carnival

The aging carousel,
The ancient ferris wheel
Rusted and paint chipped,
The roller coaster closed
For years now
Unsafe but irreplaceable.
Wooden skeleton still standing
Over the carnival lot.
Graveyard of memory,
A funeral plot,
Where ghosts of youth stroll by
Laughing on their way
To eternity and oblivion.
