Notes About The Poem

My siister has been gone for a few years now and is still misssed I woke one morning with a vivid memory of my dream of her.  Her birthday was just the other day so this is my birthday gift to her.

Carmel Sue

You were the first of our crew.
A lioness, through and through.
Soul of a huntress, brave, strong.
Four foot nine.
Compassionate, geneorous soul, full of charm.

Look at the beautiful legacy you left behind.
The memories of you will carry on.

You knew your days were through.
You told me so.
You just did not want anyone else to know.
Thought it would soften the blow.
Look at the damage it has done.
Gone from us to young.

Look at the beautiful legacy you left behind.
The memories of you will carry on.

You stay near.
Watch, spy, listen.
Visit in a dream
You speak of life, of butterflies.
Even bring up Winne the Pooh.
You want me to tell them all that you see.
They won’t believe me.

Look at the beautiful legacy you left behind.
The memories of you will carry on.

Although my dream fades, your voice stays.
It echoes in my brain.
You asked me to write you a poem that morn.
My mind has been filled with you for days.
Not really knowing what to say.
So I listened to my heart.

Look at the beautiful legacy you left behind.
The memories of you will carry on.

The little wild bird I see.
She sits on my grass.
Watching me from afar.
I know she is you.
She looks me in the eye.
Never flies away.

Look at the beautiful legacy you left behind.
The memories of you will carry on.
