Warm, blue, Islands in The Stream Immersed in your sweet bosom I drift, slow, to your cool depths Shimmering coral towers ... Surround me like Heaven's spires I reach for ropes of sunlight ... And swallow my last ... wet ... breath. ~ 2nd Place ~ in the "Sevenbits" Poetry Contest, Nette Onclaud, Judge & Sponsor. ( Islands in The Stream = Caribbean Isles ) ~ 10th Place ~ in the "An October Premiere Contest" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor.

Yes - "The Big Swim", as it were, lol ... I lived in St Croix and did a lot of snorkeling and scuba, (almost every day after work), though this one is actually about drowning, I lent my experience to it. I have always felt I would die by drowning - even had dreams about it - so that's where this is going, though not in a scary or bad way, but rather resigned to it. Thank you so much for your comments! :-)

What beauty you write with my friend! It's like you took nature's living pen and wrote with the ink of the Caribbean to form the greatest poem possible! I think your piece will surely receive high marks, especially with your selection of subject! Great Work!!

Indeed, Maureen! This actually comes from a very real nightmare I had once, (in the throes of my substance abuse), where I experienced many different types of death - pain and all - and drowning, strangely, was one of the least terrifying. I have always felt completely at home in the water, (and underwater), so it makes a wee bit of sense ... sort of! ;-)
