Careless Tosses

I cannot drive from my home to a grocery store
without choking back tears that threaten to spill as
sourced from my bruised heart. The gifts of earth as
lovingly bestowed from our Father to us are trashed in
sad quantities upon the roadsides in ignorant, careless
tosses that I cannot understand and refuse to accept.
If man cannot comprehend all that earth’s wonders offer
us on even a basic, selfish level then what hope is there
for man to understand anything at all that would lead us
back to Eden? How are we to globally comprehend the
benefits of goodwill when we fail to understand the good
concept of trash cans?

trash throws vast blessings back at our generous source ~ my mascara runs

Tremendous write and you're 100% correct, it's disgusting. You wouldn't believe some of the crap I saw when I was involuntarily picking up trash for Harris County a few years back. It's mind blowing. Andrea's right, I like the prose part especially, well worded.

this is very very good haibun, my dear friend. The haiku is an actual haiku and the prose part depicts a topic very important to you. This must be the kill two birds with two stones poem?? Love it!

Your tears will probably mix with those of many others, CayCay. Like you I cannot understand the behaviour of certain people...Earth is our home....who would want to litter his home?! Your Haibun comes with meaningful and emotional words; the end haiku sums up your thoughts and the sadness this situation brings with it. ~ Warm regards // paul

We have all seen the scene you describe in some form..and you captured it here with a tearful heartfelt write..one that treasures the environment and speaks to the offenders skillfully. So well written, CayCay..my best wishes for a win.

So very true. Man trashes everything no respect for mother nature or its creatures. That is why a trash pile the size of Texas is in the ocean . Great poem.

How do we get everyone to care? Rhetorical question, I know. Appreciate your time and comments, Michael, very much I do! Poetry hugs ... CayCay
