"When a cardinal appears in your yard, it's a visitor from heaven." Author Unknown
Red holiday bright feathers contrast against the white snow
While most birds fly south your beauty now steals the show
You appear at my feeders, loudly singing your distinctive cheer
Your beautiful mate must be close by and will soon be near
Beautiful muted brownish tan feathers soon appear beside you
She sings her cheerful song, while preening dirty feathers new
Feasting on black sunflower seeds this early winter morning
Territorial chirps soon emit for all other birds to take warning
A snow squall starts to blow heavy snow all around
Your red is barely visible now but not your loud sound
The feeders are now snow covered and with no birds to see
Red and brown feathers gone but now singing up high in a tree
