Cardiac Arrest

Just a passing goodbye
Just a swift turn of fate
Just a boy with his friend, nothing more, nothing less
Until a heartbeat of change.
Lungs no longer breathing
Heart no longer beating
In such a moment of fear, such a young life changed.
Rapid work placed in action by hands of angels, placed in the right place at the right time by the hands of the one most holy.
Shocks like lightning to the chest, one... two... three... again.
Breathing and heart beating.
A seizure like an earthquake spreading shakes from head to foot.
Disoriented, parents pacing waiting for their baby to come back too.
Seconds feel like minutes, minutes feel like hours, hours feeling like eternity.
Awake only by the grace of God.
Life forever changed
Worry never ending, anxiety never fading.
Only by the grace of God is everything back to its place.
